The Individual and The Society: Untitled #1 (for now)
Acrylic on canvas
10 x 20 in
25.4 x 50.8 cm
I don’t know what to say about this piece right now. It’s so personal. And consistently relevant. I have to do more research, more thinking and more painting in this series. Hopefully then I can share the right words. Yet here I am sharing and writing very informally about the work as if it’s needed right now.
Ambivalence is the technical word to describe it, but that seems a bit too formal. It’s all too wordy for me. So allowing the painting to speak for itself seems most fitting at the moment. And maybe forever.
This is the first finished piece from an idea developing since March 2019. Now last year, December 2020, I started struggling to visually create another idea called The Individual and The Society. So when I recently revisited this piece, these two ideas just seemed to work together.
Time will tell where all of this goes. Then, maybe, I can better communicate it in words too.
